Shaping Spaces at One of WA’s Biggest Gardening Events

Formline at the Perth Garden Show 2026

The Perth Garden Show 2026, held from 17–19 April, brought together landscapers, designers, gardeners, suppliers and industry professionals for three days celebrating great gardens, innovative products and ideas for creating better outdoor spaces.

This year, Formline Landscape Edging could be found throughout the show, demonstrating how steel edging can be used to shape everything from structured contemporary gardens to natural, flowing landscapes.

StrataGreen, one of our WA-based Formline stockists, showcased the Formline range at its Perth Garden Show stand, giving visitors the opportunity to see the product installed and speak with the team about landscape edging solutions for residential and commercial projects.

Seeing Formline in the Landscape

One of the biggest advantages of seeing Formline installed is being able to appreciate how the edging becomes part of the overall landscape design.

Rather than simply acting as a garden border, Formline can be used to establish the lines and curves that give an outdoor space its shape.

At the StrataGreen display, visitors could see how Formline creates clean, defined garden beds while complementing surrounding planting and landscape materials.

Whether creating sweeping curves, crisp straight lines or transitions between different areas of a garden, the steel edging provides designers and landscapers with the flexibility to shape spaces around their vision.

Formline Across the Perth Garden Show

Formline wasn't limited to one display. Throughout the weekend, the edging was also incorporated into other areas of the show, including the Richgro Garden Display and Ellenby Tree Farm stand.

Seeing Formline used across different gardens helped demonstrate just how versatile landscape edging can be.

Each display had its own character and planting style, yet the edging could be incorporated without dominating the landscape. Its role was simple: provide structure and definition while allowing the garden itself to remain the focus.

Supporting The Forever Project's Live Garden Transformations

Another highlight of the Perth Garden Show was The Forever Project's Blank Canvas Makeovers, delivered in collaboration with the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES).

Across the three days, visitors were able to watch empty spaces transform into complete gardens, with each day exploring a different approach to resilient and sustainable landscape design.

Formline and Firewise Garden Design

The Firewise gardens also highlighted an increasingly important consideration for landscape design in Western Australia: how gardens can be designed with bushfire resilience in mind.

DFES Firewise gardening guidance encourages consideration of factors including lower-flammability plants, defensible spaces and the use of non-combustible materials within garden design.

As a steel landscape edging system, Formline provides a non-combustible option for defining garden beds and landscape areas, making it a material that can be considered as part of a broader Firewise landscape design.

The live transformations showed that designing with these principles in mind doesn't mean compromising on the appearance of a garden. Considered material choices can instead become part of creating a landscape that is both practical and visually appealing.
