Shaping the Landscape with Formline
Formline Helps Shape Hawaiian’s Newpark Community Corner
Great landscape design is about more than creating an attractive space. It can help shape how people move, connect, play and interact with the natural environment.
StrataGreen, one of our WA-based suppliers, partnered with The Forever Project to supply Formline Landscape Edging for the new Hawaiian’s Newpark Community Corner in Girrawheen, Western Australia.
Created as a free outdoor space for the local community, the newly completed precinct brings together landscaped gardens, nature play and recreational areas to create a welcoming place for families, children and visitors to spend time outdoors.
Shaping the Landscape with Formline
Throughout the project, Formline Landscape Edging has been incorporated into the garden to create clean, defined transitions between planting, pathways and other landscaped areas.
The clean lines of the steel edging help provide structure to the landscape while allowing the planting and natural elements of the garden to remain the focus.
One of the advantages of Formline is its ability to create both straight lines and flowing curves, giving landscape designers the flexibility to define spaces without restricting the overall design.
At Hawaiian’s Newpark Community Corner, these qualities help bring definition to the garden while complementing the organic shapes and natural character of the surrounding landscape.
Creating Spaces for Nature and Play
At the heart of the project is an immersive Firewise Nature Play Garden, designed to encourage children to engage with the landscape through nature-based play.
Rather than treating play areas and gardens as separate spaces, the project brings them together, incorporating planting, natural materials and play elements into one connected environment.
The result is a landscape where children can explore and interact with nature while parents, families and the wider community have a welcoming outdoor space to gather and connect.

About The Forever Project
The Forever Project works to promote sustainability education and demonstrate practical ways to create environmentally responsible and resilient gardens and landscapes.
Through projects such as Hawaiian’s Newpark Community Corner, these principles can be experienced firsthand, bringing together community connection, nature, education and considered landscape design.
We’re proud to see Formline incorporated into a project that encourages people to spend more time outdoors and demonstrates what can be achieved when landscape materials are used to help shape spaces around the people who use them.
